Michaelle Stidham:

Layered painting:

-          6 inch round foam covered in white fondant attached to a 9inch round cardboard circle covered in fondant.

-          gumpaste tools

-          instructor will supply the rest

Gelatin butterflies:

-          instructor will supply everything

 

Quilting:

-          1 lb of fondant

-          gumpaste tools

-          instructor will supply the rest

 

 

 

 

Diane Simmons:

Gelatin Flowers:

-          instructor will supply everything

Fondant Drapes & Bows:

-          1 lb fondant

-          small rolling pin

-          pizza wheel cutter

-          ruler

-          puff duster

-          If you would like to do this on an actual cake, you need to bring either a covered dummy or cake (4” tall) attached to a board atleast 4” larger diameter.  Otherwise, instructor will provide a board to attach samples of the various techniques to (after many sessions of this class, it has been the case that most students would prefer to just try the different techniques rather than worry about completing a cake in one specific style.)

-          Instructor will provide rest of tools for class

 

Brush Embroidery:

-          instructor will supply everything

Fondant Critter Modeling:

-          6 oz fondant each of the following colors:  light brown, white, black, pink

-          small amount of fondant:  yellow, red

-          small rolling pin                                                    

-          vinyl place mat

-          small artist’s brush

-          cornstarch puff (1/4 C cornstarch knotted in the toe of a NEW nylon knee-high stocking)

-          palette knife (from an artist’s supply store)

-          ball tool

-          round piping tips #8, #10

-          8” round cake board

-          8” box to take your project home

IMPORTANT!

Please have your fondant colored and ready to use before class begins!

 

Fondant Purse:

Instructor will provide:

-          8” square cake for carving

 

Please bring the following items:

-          quarter-sheet cake cardboard covered with foil

-          small serrated knife for carving

-          Small angled spatula

-          4 cups buttercream icing (medium consistency)

-          Small amount of clear piping gel

-          1/3 cup white Crisco in small covered container

-          Fondant  (1 1/2 pounds) in color of your choice, plus ½ pound contrasting color(s) for trim & embellishments

-          Large rolling pin

-          Pizza cutter

-          Fondant smoothers

-          Small scissors

-          Palette knife

-          Stitching wheel

-          Cornstarch “puff” 

-          (Place ¼ C cornstarch in the toe of a NEW nylon knee-high stocking and knot the stocking to close.)

-          Small artist’s paintbrush

-          Vinyl place mat (smooth surface)

-          Ruler

-          Turntable  (optional, but handy!)

-          Quarter-sheet box to take your class project home.

 

Optional items – bring them if you have them:

-          Pasta roller (machine)

-          Small cutters in any shape you choose (flowers, animals, letters, etc…)

-          Clay gun

 

Intro to Gumpaste:

Instructor will provide:

-          gumpaste, gum glue and floral wires for use in this class

 

Please bring the following items with you:

-          Gumpaste cutters

(I recommend that you purchase Wilton’s Gumpaste Flower kit – This is excellent for beginners!)

In this class we will use the following specific cutters:

§         Small 5-petal blossom cutter – approx ¾”

§         Small round cutters – 1”, and 1 ¼”

§         Small 5-point calyx cutter

-          Rolling pin

-          Celpad  (I have these available for use in class.)

-          Small scissors

-          Palette knife (this is an artist’s tool, NOT a spatula!)

-          Ball tool

-          Cornstarch “puff” 

(Directions:  Place approx ¼ cup cornstarch in a new white nylon

knee-hi” stocking and tie to close.  Keep this in a small zip-lock bag.)

-          1/3 cup white Crisco in small covered container

-          Small paintbrush

-          Vinyl place mat (smooth surface – choose one with a brightly colored design)

-          Block of floral foam (you will push your flowers into this as you work on them)

-          Empty egg carton  (you will use this to take your flowers home)

-          Stiff cardboard (approx 6” x 8”) covered with waxed paper

(* Note - If your Wilton kit includes a black plastic “flap” you will not need this item.)
