The Michigan ICES Chapter is sponsoring the 2010 Great Lakes Mini Classes and Michigan Sugar Art Showcase at the Doubletree Hotel Dearborn/Detroit on March 20, 21 & 22, 2010.

The following pages contain a list of classes offered by a very distinguished list of instructors. This schedule offers many diversified topics from traditional to contemporary. VIDEOTAPING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED OF ANY CLASS. This is in accordance with ICES recommendations to show courtesy to your fellow students and teachers.

The event is being held at The Doubletree Hotel Dearborn/Detroit, 5801 Southfield Expressway, Detroit, MI 48228. Telephone number is (313) 336-3340. The hotel is an approximate 20-minute drive via expressway from Detroit Metro Airport. Hotel room rates are $92.00 (plus taxes) per night. When you make your reservation you must mention ICES to receive the quoted rate. There is plenty of free parking on-site. All rooms are convenient to the event area.

We strongly suggest that you register for your classes as soon as possible. Class space is limited and will be assigned when registration and payment is received. This is on a first come first serve basis. All classes and registration fees are to be paid in advance! Please make checks payable to: GREAT LAKES MINI CLASSES.

In planning your classes, please pay close attention to the schedule. We have planned this event in such a way as to avoid overlapping of classes. There are, however, several 2-part classes; so be sure you take that into consideration. Class confirmation will be sent by e-mail or mailed to you as soon as we receive your paid registration.

Supplies for each class is listed along with the detailed class description. Each student is responsible for required supplies. Also, it is recommended that you bring a few basic items with you, such as an apron, pen & paper for notes, wet wipes or damp towels, your basic tool kit for gumpaste or fondant classes, etc.

The registration desk will open at 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 20. Classes may be added if space is available at that time. The vendor room will be open Saturday 9:00 AM-8:00 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM-5:30 PM, and Monday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.

Throughout the weekend, you may register for additional classes that may still have openings. Check at the registration desk for available classes. Note: Dropped class refund requests from student will not be accepted after March 5, 2010. Class cancellations by Instructors due to lack of enrollment will be fully refunded.

Each registration includes a banquet ticket for Sunday night. An auction will take place during the banquet, with a fun-filled social event to follow. Additional banquet tickets (only) will be available at a cost of $42.00 each.

Part of your registration also includes a box lunch. We feel this is a convenience to our students, so that their time between class sessions can also include time to relax or shop the vendor room.

This event is open to all ICES member and non-members. Refer to the registration form for the price information. If you are not a member, you have the option to join at this time and enjoy the wonderful world of Sugar Art!

REFUND POLICY: A refund, less a processing fee of $25.00, will be granted with written notification of cancellations to be received no later than MARCH 5, 2010. There will be NO REFUNDS for cancellations received after this date. All refunds will be processed following the 2010 Great Lakes Mini Class event.

We are also planning a “Cake-By-The-Slice” sale to be held in the lobby of the hotel, open to the public! Proceeds from this sale will go to the Michigan ICES Scholarship Fund.
